STEPHENSON TREASURER STEPHANIE HELMS ENDORSES CHESNEY FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE

Freeport—Stephenson County Treasurer Stephanie Helms has endorsed Andrew Chesney for State Representative in the 89th Illinois House District. Helms was appointed to the office of Treasurer in March of 2015. Helms was unopposed in her election to that office in November of 2016. Helms is a Freeport native and her family has been in the area for six generations.

“Andrew Chesney would make a great representative for us in the 89^th District. He shares the values that my family and I have shared and those are Northern Illinois values of hard work and truthfulness. There are too many politicians in government and Andrew Chesney is the type of person who can cut through the politics and produce results,” said Stephanie Helms.

“As Treasurer I know that numbers are real and that sometimes real numbers clash with politics. We have seen what kind of financial disaster the politicians in Springfield have brought to our state and we need leaders like Andrew Chesney to bring real solutions to the problems we face,” said Helms.

“Stephanie Helms’ support in this election is very important to me. Stephanie knows the finances here in Stephenson County and through her experience in the Freeport school district and the Freeport Housing Authority she brings a unique perspective on government entities. I look forward to working with her to seek out solutions on issues between the state and local agencies,” said Andrew Chesney.

Chesney announced his candidacy for the 89^th Illinois House district seat in September following the announcement that current State Representative Brian Stewart (R-Freeport) would be seeking election to the Illinois State Senate upon the retirement next year of current State Senator Tim Bivins (R-Dixon).

A native of Shannon, Illinois, Chesney is the current alderman at large in the city of Freeport and a division sales manager for Seaga Manufacturing in Freeport. He is also the current chairman of the Stephenson County Republican Central Committee. He and his wife Kelly live in Freeport.

The 89^th Illinois House District is made up of parts of Carroll, Jo Daviess, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago Counties.
