Freeport—State Representative Tony McCombie has endorsed Andrew Chesney for State Representative in the 89th Illinois House District. Representative McCombie is serving her first term in the Illinois legislature. Representative McCombie is a small business owner and former Mayor of Savanna.
“I am proud to endorse Andrew Chesney in his race for the nomination for State Representative in the 89th District. Andrew understands there will be difficult work ahead but is willing to work together to do what is best for our state. He will be a great addition to not only Northwest Illinois but the Republican caucus,” said State Representative Tony McCombie.
“I am very pleased to accept the endorsement of Representative Tony McCombie in my race for the 89th District. Tony is a true “citizen legislator” who travels to Springfield to represent her district and the values of her constituents. If elected I will look forward to working with her in the legislature,” said Andrew Chesney.
Representative McCombie’s endorsement is in addition to previous endorsements of state legislators including current 89th District Representative Brian Stewart, Joe Sosnowski of the 69thDistrict and John Cabello in the 68th District.
Chesney announced his candidacy for the 89th Illinois House district seat in September following the announcement that current State Representative Brian Stewart (R-Freeport) would be seeking election to the Illinois State Senate upon the retirement next year of current State Senator Tim Bivins (R-Dixon).
A native of Shannon, Illinois, Chesney is the current alderman at large in the city of Freeport and a division sales manager for Seaga Manufacturing in Freeport. He is also the current chairman of the Stephenson County Republican Central Committee. He and his wife Kelly live in Freeport.
The 89th Illinois House District is made up of parts of Carroll, Jo Daviess, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago Counties.
