Freeport—Andrew Chesney, candidate for 89th District State Representative, has been endorsed by retired Jo Daviess County Sheriff Steve Allendorf. Allendorf served as Sheriff for nearly two decades and currently serves on the county board.
“Andrew Chesney knows Northwest Illinois well and his views on the issues are aligned with the people he will represent. Andrew is also keenly aware of the issues regarding Public Safety. We need people in Springfield who understand the issues that law enforcement has to deal with. His record on the Freeport City Council attests to that,” said Steve Allendorf.
“Andrew Chesney has my support in this upcoming election. We need to have someone who will represent our interests and our values and not be just another tool of the Chicago Democrats. We need someone we can count to be independent in their thinking and who will be thinking about Northwest Illinois when they vote,” said Allendorf.
“Steve Allendorf is a stalwart in Jo Daviess County. Republicans, Democrats and independents all like Steve and I am proud to have his support. I want to thank Steve for his support but more importantly I want to thank him for his service,” said Andrew Chesney.
Chesney announced his candidacy for the 89th Illinois House district seat in September following the announcement that current State Representative Brian Stewart (R-Freeport) would be seeking election to the Illinois State Senate upon the retirement next year of current State Senator Tim BivIns (R-Dixon). Chesney won the Republican nomination for 89th State Representative District in the March 20, 2018 Primary election.
A native of Shannon, Illinois, Chesney is the current alderman at large in the city of Freeport and a division sales manager for Seaga Manufacturing in Freeport. He is also the current chairman of the Stephenson County Republican Central Committee.
He and his wife Kelly live in Freeport and share their home with Nicholas who Andrew met through the Big Brother program. The 89th Illinois House District is made up of parts of Carroll, Jo Daviess, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago Counties.
