Infrastructure maintenance and expansion are crucial for the growth of the 45th District. However, it should be done responsibly, fairly, and without overburdening taxpayers. I put in a lot of effort to create coalitions so that we can find policy solutions that address the transportation needs of Northwest Illinois. I also work hard to ensure we receive an equitable share of transportation improvement funds when they become available.
I will not support any efforts that result in Northwest Illinoisans paying more than they receive. It’s unfair for us to pay for road improvements in Chicago or other urban areas of Illinois. That’s why I voted against doubling the gas tax in 2019.
