Freeport—68th District State Representative John Cabello has endorsed Andrew Chesney for State Representative in the 89th Illinois House District. Representative Cabello has served in the 68th District since August of 2012 when he was appointed to fill a vacancy in that seat. He was then elected in November of that year and has served ever since. Cabello is also a Police Officer with over two decades of service.
“Andrew Chesney will be a great addition to the Republican Caucus in Springfield. I have focused much of my legislation around public safety and law enforcement issues and I am confident that Andrew Chesney will be a legislator who will support the blue and first responders,” said Representative John Cabello.
“This past year many of us were disappointed when a number of our colleagues succumbed to the pressure to raise taxes. I know that Andrew Chesney will stand tall with us in opposition to higher taxes and his leadership will be welcome. The Democrats in Springfield are already gearing up for taxes on the so-called rich and taxes on investment income which hurts seniors,” said Representative Cabello.
“Representative John Cabello is a great representative of his district and for law enforcement. He brings passion for all of the issues that he is dealing with and I particularly share his passion for public safety and law enforcement. The most important role of government is to keep the peace and provide a legal system. If elected, I would look forward to working with Representative Cabello on these issues,” said Andrew Chesney.
Chesney announced his candidacy for the 89th Illinois House district seat in September following the announcement that current State Representative Brian Stewart (R-Freeport) would be seeking election to the Illinois State Senate upon the retirement next year of current State Senator Tim Bivins (R-Dixon).
A native of Shannon, Illinois, Chesney is the current alderman at large in the city of Freeport and a division sales manager for Seaga Manufacturing in Freeport. He is also the current chairman of the Stephenson County Republican Central Committee. He and his wife Kelly live in Freeport.
The 89th Illinois House District is made up of parts of Carroll, Jo Daviess, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago Counties.
