Freeport—The Illinois Chamber of Commerce has endorsed Andrew Chesney for State Representative in the 89th Illinois House District. The Illinois Chamber of Commerce was formed in 1919 and was one of the first statewide business organizations in the United States. The Chamber is a business advocacy group that weighs in on policies that affect markets and business in general in Illinois.
“The Illinois Chamber endorses candidates who understand our issues and Andrew Chesney is the best candidate in the Republican Primary for the 89th District. The legislation that goes through the Illinois General Assembly can be beneficial to markets and business or it can be very detrimental. We need legislators like Andrew Chesney who know the difference and who possess the kind of experience necessary to legislate effectively,” said Illinois Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Todd Maisch.
“The endorsement of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce is very important to me. The Chamber has a very high level of respect among legislators and those persons who interact with the legislature. I am honored to have their endorsement and confidence in my ability to navigate the process in Springfield as well as support a pro-growth agenda for Illinois,” said Andrew Chesney.
Chesney announced his candidacy for the 89th Illinois House district seat in September following the announcement that current State Representative Brian Stewart (R-Freeport) would be seeking election to the Illinois State Senate upon the retirement next year of current State Senator Tim Bivins (R-Dixon).
A native of Shannon, Illinois, Chesney is the current alderman at large in the city of Freeport and a division sales manager for Seaga Manufacturing in Freeport. He is also the current chairman of the Stephenson County Republican Central Committee. He and his wife Kelly live in Freeport.
The 89th Illinois House District is made up of parts of Carroll, Jo Daviess, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago Counties.
