CHESNEY ANNOUNCES ENDORSEMENT FROM FREEPORT POLICE CHIEF

Freeport—Freeport Police Chief Todd Barkalow has endorsed Andrew Chesney for State Representative in the 89th Illinois House District. Barkalow has served with the Freeport Police department since 1993 and was appointed chief of that department in 2014. He is a longtime resident of the 89th Illinois House District.

“I have been impressed with Andrew Chesney’s work ethic and his dedication to serving his community. That service and his commitment to public safety has been of particular interest to me as a law enforcement officer. Public Safety is a primary function of government at all levels and I want to acknowledge my support for someone running for office who understands that,” said Chief Todd Barkalow.

“I am honored to have the support of Chief Barkalow in my campaign for state representative in the 89th District. As I crisscross this district and meet with people they are telling me that public safety is a top of mind issue. My commitment to public safety is one of the reasons why every sheriff and many top law enforcement officers in every county within the 89th District are supporting my candidacy.” said Andrew Chesney.

Chesney announced his candidacy for the 89th Illinois House district seat in September following the announcement that current State Representative Brian Stewart (R-Freeport) would be seeking election to the Illinois State Senate upon the retirement next year of current State Senator Tim Bivins (R-Dixon).

A native of Shannon, Illinois, Chesney is the current alderman at large in the city of Freeport and a division sales manager for Seaga Manufacturing in Freeport.  He is also the current chairman of the Stephenson County Republican Central Committee.

He and his wife Kelly live in Freeport.  The 89th Illinois House District is made up of parts of Carroll, Jo Daviess, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago Counties.
