CARROLL COUNTY GOP CHAIR SUPPORTING CHESNEY

FREEPORT—Carroll County Republican Central Committee chairman Clint Elmore announced this week he is supporting Freeport city alderman and Shannon native Andrew Chesney in the race for the 89th Illinois House seat.

Elmore is the third Republican Party county chairman to endorse Chesney for the seat being vacated by current State Representative Brian Stewart. Chesney has also received the endorsements from Jo Daviess GOP chair Mike Dittmar and Whiteside County GOP chair Kurt Glazier.

“I’m very proud to support one of Carroll County’s own Andrew Chesney in his election for the 89th House seat,” said Elmore. “Andrew, along with Savanna-native State Representative Tony McCombie, will help build a strong legislative team for Carroll County and all of northwestern Illinois. Andrew has displayed the kind of conservative leadership we so desperately need in Springfield. ”

A Milledgeville resident, Elmore has been the head of the Carroll County Republican Central Committee for the past four years. He is a 32-year veteran from the Illinois Department of Corrections and is currently a part-time law enforcement officer.

“I couldn’t be happier than to receive the support from Clint and from all the encouragement I have been receiving from my home county as I push forward in this race,” said Chesney. “My hometown of Shannon and Carroll County will always be a special place for me and I would be honored to serve them and all of the residents of the 89th District in Springfield.”

Chesney announced his candidacy for the 89th Illinois House district seat in September following the announcement that current State Representative Brian Stewart (R-Freeport) would be seeking election to the Illinois State Senate upon the retirement next year of current State Senator Tim Bivens (R-Dixon).

A native of Shannon, Illinois, Chesney is the current alderman at large in the city of Freeport and a division sales manager for Seaga Manufacturing in Freeport. He is also the current chairman of the Stephenson County Republican Central Committee.

He and his wife Kelly live in Freeport. The 89th Illinois House District is made up of parts of Carroll, Jo Daviess, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago Counties.
