FREEPORT—Whiteside County Republican Central Committee Chairman and Whiteside County Board member Kurt Glazier has announced he is supporting Andrew Chesney in the March 20th, 2018 Republican Party primary election for the 89th Illinois House seat.
“Andrew has the experience as a member of the Freeport City Council and as the Chairman of the Stephenson County Republican Central Committee to represent our region well in Springfield,” said Glazier. “Involved in his family’s business and possessing a strong work ethic, I believe Andrew will be an excellent choice for the residents of the 89th State Representative District and that’s why I am supporting him and have endorsed him.”
A longtime Republican and lifelong resident of Whiteside County, Glazier has been the chairman of the Whiteside Republican Party since 2014. Glazier was first elected to the Whiteside County Board in 2010 and serves on the Judiciary Committee and the Special Service No. 1 Committee which oversees the operation of Sterling and Rock Fall’s ambulance service.
Glazier joins Mike Dittmar, the chairman of the Jo Daviess County Republican Party, as the second local Republican Party county chairman in northwest Illinois to endorse Chesney for the 89th House District. Chesney is the current chairman of the Stephenson County Republican Central Committee.
Chesney announced his candidacy for the 89th Illinois House district seat in September following the announcement that current State Representative Brian Stewart (R-Freeport) would be seeking election to the Illinois State Senate upon the retirement next year of current State Senator Tim Bivens (R-Dixon).
A native of Shannon, Illinois, Chesney is the current alderman at large in the city of Freeport and a division sales manager for Seaga Manufacturing in Freeport. He is also the current chairman of the Stephenson County Republican Central Committee. He and his wife Kelly live in Freeport.
The 89th Illinois House District is made up of parts of Carroll, Jo Daviess, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago Counties.
